Borlo (B), December 21-23 2025

We arrived Friday afternoon. It was a gray day, and after arriving and a warm welcome from the museum’s hosts and warming up, I started setting up camp.

The first participants didn’t arrive until around 6:00 PM. I showed them to their spots, and they began setting up their tents. Soon, more of our members arrived, and we decided to eat first and then continue setting up camp. After everything was set up, we had a round of introductions around the campfire, asking a few questions I’d written down beforehand. It promised to be a cold night, so we went to bed early, as we still had a busy weekend ahead of us.

Saturday morning reveille was at 7:30, and after everyone was out of bed on time, we raised the flag. This didn’t go entirely without a struggle, but we continued to work hard on drills throughout the day to get most of the members familiar with the basics. After breakfast, we got ready for the walk we were participating in, which was organized by the museum. We were finally dropped off at the starting point at 9:45 a.m. and began the approximately 8-kilometer hike. It was a beautiful, sunny but cold day. We finally arrived back at camp around 1:00 p.m. and had lunch. In the afternoon, we continued practicing the drills, and by late afternoon, we had already mastered the basics. Around 5:00 p.m., we lowered the flag and had dinner. Since it had been a long, challenging day, we didn’t spend much time around the campfire and went to bed early.

On Sunday morning, the members deserved a little extra sleep, and we woke up at 8:00 AM. After breakfast, we continued practicing drills, and at 10:00 AM, the museum opened. Most members hadn’t been there yet, so we took our time exploring at our leisure. After the museum, we cleaned up the camp and, after a fond farewell, headed home around 1:00 PM. As our first event together with most of the members, I look back on a very successful weekend. Most of the members got to know each other well, we gained a lot of knowledge, and this will certainly be the first chapter in a wonderful story to come.
